Summary/Abstract: It is known that performance in sports should be evaluated as a whole with other factors that affect the result in a short time in competitions where it shows a very complex structure beyond the general performance definition. Based on this, it is thought that the motivation effect on athlete performance and the sportswear that provides this effect play an important role in increasing the athlete's ability to produce work in unit time. Active and regular sports people want sportswear that provide high performance and high comfort in addition to their good and beautiful appearance. These types of clothes, referred to as active sportswear, are known as the basic functions of success. For this reason, many textile companies and research institutions have turned to the production of sportswear with features such as performance enhancing and effective movement ability, appropriate stretching, tension, sweat absorption, quick drying and appropriate weight, and with the appropriate design for these fabrics. The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge and perceptions of those with sports backgrounds and in the field of sports training on sportswear, which is a motivational effect factor in increasing performance, and to evaluate whether they know sportswear fabrics or not. A questionnaire form was prepared, which included questions on the properties of sportswear fabrics. 116 students of Van Centennial University School of Physical Education and Sports participated in the study. According to the study design, it was stated that there was limited information on the technical properties of clothes and sportswear, but the color of the clothes, color harmony, softness of the fabric, and sports activities were quite effective. However, it was revealed that there was a great dissatisfaction in the label fabric and the place where the label was sewn in all commercial sportswear, both branded and unbranded.
