Summary/Abstract: The research aims to study the experience of linguistic, cultural, social and educational adap-tation of Ukrainian families with children who have moved abroad because of the war in Ukraine. The results were obtained between July and December 2022. The study presents the findings of in-depth interviews with 18 Ukrainian women temporarily residing in Denmark with children aged 5 to 8 years. The interviews focused on two im-portant interrelated topics: the language priorities of families with children who have moved abroad due to the war in Ukraine, and social needs and expectations that would facilitate the process of adaptation and integration into the life of host communities. The study substanti-ates language changes among Ukrainians abroad and their main reasons, in particular, the tendency to consciously choose the language of communication and upbringing of children, the desire for national identification and presentation, emotional protection of oneself and one's family in a situation of uncertainty and inability to plan for the future or control the present. The results of the study are the basis for identifying the main educational needs, language and social support for Ukrainian families abroad.
