Summary/Abstract: The scale of the union market and its capability give a chance of SMEs development. Therefore it is rising the role of programmes that support their development. It is important that the politics has changed from support for SMEs only to providing assistance to the whole regional development. In this way SMEs can be stronger connected with the needs of the local environment. We ought to concentrate on creating factors for their better adaptation to specific areas and their programmes of development.
