Summary/Abstract: Gheorghe Beller, from the Romanian commercial fleet, had a normal career evolution, being finally appointed commander of the cargo ship "Mangalia", the most modern and luxurious mixed ship purchased by the Romanian Maritime Service, entered service in the spring of 1940. After enduring the rigors of the decisions of the authorities in London and Washington, which culminated in the requisition of the ship in New York port, he returned to the country in the fall of 1941. Appointed to the command of the mixed ship "Suceava" completed the assigned missions, ending in a violent death following an enemy attack on the ship.
