Summary/Abstract: The article explores the legislation act, adopted at the time of the Iconoclast emperors Leo III an Constantine V. Attention is payed mostly to certain significant differences with Corpus iuris civilis, concretely in the aspects of property, family and penal law. Different possible causes for each of these differences are examined, as they are viewed by several representatives of the doctrine who pay attention to this topic, and the authors gives their personal opinion as well. The most important similarities between the two acts, which justify the belief that the earlier act is the basis for the later one, are also explored.
