CULTURAL TOURISM AS A DEVELOPMENT FACTOR IN THE ZENICA-DOBOJ CANTON

Summary/Abstract: Cultural tourism represents a form of tourism in which a fruitful synthesis of culture and tourism has emerged. This amalgamation contributes to the development of both tourism and culture. Tourism finds new content within culture, thereby expanding the tourist offer, while culture, through its synthesis with tourism, explores its potential within the market environment. This paper analyzes the existing cultural heritage, cultural events, activities of cultural institutions and cultural monuments in the Zenica-Doboj Canton in the context of cultural and touristic offerings. Cultural tourism can become a significant driver of Canton development. It will enable the creation of new job opportunities (cultural institutions, service activities, infrastructure, etc.), the development of transportation infrastructure, strengthening the capacities of cultural institutions, greater protection of cultural heritage, and increased financial resources for culture.
