Summary/Abstract: Intangible cultural heritage is defined as the, practices, representations, expressions, knowledge, skills as well as the instruments, objects, artefacts and cultural spaces associated therewith that communities, groups and, in some cases, individuals recognize as part of their cultural heritage. The Convention on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage was signed by UNESCO for the protection of intangible cultural heritage. The Convention emphasizes the transmission of SOKÜM elements from generation to generation, especially through in-school or out-of-school education. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the ICH and media themed children's congress on the gifted and talented students who attended the congress. Having a qualitative research method, the study employed the phenomenological design. The criterion sampling method, which is among the purposive sampling methods, was used to determine the working group. This study was conducted with ten secondary school students learning at science and art centers. The research data were obtained through a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. Content analysis was used during data analysis. The inter-coder reliability of the study was found to be .87. According to the research results, it is conclude that the students had the knowledge of oral traditions and narratives, handicraft traditions, societal practices, rituals and festivities, performing arts, and information related to nature and the universe before the congress and some of the students acquired the knowledge on some of these topics through the congress process. Additionally, the study reveals that the congress enhances students' awareness and interest in elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), and it contributes to their socialization as they experience presenting at a scientific congress for the first time. Recommendations have been proposed based on the research results for organizing congresses with themes related to intangible cultural heritage.
