Summary/Abstract: Clothing stands out as an important cultural value in Turks. In this context, it is necessary to preserve historical clothes so that they can be passed on to future generations. This study emphasizes the importance of providing appropriate environmental conditions in the context of preserving and exhibiting historical clothing. Because the conditions of the environments where the clothes are stored or exhibited stand out as a critical factor in damage to the works. Similarly, the negative effects of the human factor on clothing cannot be ignored. Within the scope of the study, 3 works selected from nearly 50 women's traditional clothing samples in a private collection of the 20th century were examined. The purpose of examining traditional clothing samples is to determine how these works are affected by negative environmental factors resulting from their production with natural materials. In this way, the unfavorable conditions in which women’s clothing is stored and the effects of negative factors on the destruction of artifacts are especially concentrated on the human factor. Considering that there are many cultural values kept in our country under unfavorable conditions at home by people who do not have conservation knowledge, sharing conservation information and supporting it with visual data is an important goal. In addition, the methods necessary to prevent further wear and tear of historical clothes that have survived to the present day have been examined using developing technology. In this context, it is aimed to transfer important information to extend the life of textiles to future generations. However, there are limited scientific studies on the protective methods applied to preserve historical clothing. Therefore, the study is aimed to make a unique contribution to the literature. It was also emphasized that protective conservation methods should be considered from a broader perspective in order to ensure the transfer of our cultural assets to future generations.
