Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Alexander Radev - a famous Bulgarian judge and lawyer, politician and minister of justice. His short judicial career is followed, which ended in an unexpected but respectable way after the acquittal of Ekaterina Karavelova. His long and successful path as a lawyer is revealed. Also, his role in organizing the metropolitan lawyers. Dr. Radev is an active participant in the establishment and management of the Sofia Law Society and the Bulgarian Law Union. For 12 years, he was a member of the Sofia Bar Council (1899 – 1911), and in 1910, he was its chairman. This is a recognition of his indisputable human and professional qualities, organizational abilities and authority. Special attention is paid to his activities as a politician, a member of parliament from the Progressive Liberal Party and Minister of Justice. The development of the bill to repeal the Judiciary Amendment Act of 12 January 1899 and the protection of the immutability and independence of judges is brought to the fore. His open opposition to the personal regime of the monarch arouses interest. Wide attention is given to his proverbial hard work, his high legal training, his talent, skills and various gifts as a lawyer.
