Summary/Abstract: The article carefully examines the personality of Bishop Policarp Patarolikiyski (1779-1863) . grandson of Bishop Sofroniy Vrachanski (1739-1813) and cousin of Prince Stefan Bogoridi (1775- 1859). Different moments of his life are reviewed: his carrier in the Ecumenical Patriarchate; his social activities as a prelate in the church .St. Stefan. in Consatntinople; his cooperation with the churchwardens and the Bulgarian political emigration in Romania in the years of the Krimean War (1853-1856). Also is retraced the Bishop.s empathy and contribution to the Bulgarian education and literature. For the first time his scanty correspondence is publish as well as a catalogue of his personal library, which gives more details in order to get a precise outlook of his personality, as an outstanding member of the Bulgarian clerical intelligence during the renaissance.
