Summary/Abstract: The National Museum in Kraków holds a wood-en walking staff adorned with bas-relief scenes de-picting events from the Old Testament. The staffwas donated to the collection in 1888 by FatherFranciszek Szajnok. Although it was exhibited in Lvivin 1894, it has not been displayed since and has notyet received a separate study, which it undoubtedlydeserves. Upon its admission to the Museum, thestaff was described as a ‘travelling staff’ and datedto the end of the 16th century. However, it was laterdescribed as a forgery. The purpose of this study isto verify the inventory records regarding the timeand place of the relic’s creation and to introduce thisartefact into wider scholarly circulation. Perhaps inthe future, the publication will reveal its closer par-allels, verifying previous hypotheses and findings.
