Summary/Abstract: The main theme of the multi-author monograph published in 2023 by Mariusz Jakosz (Katowice) and Marcelina Kałasznik (Wrocław) is a wide range of selected language changes in the context of extralingual factors in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic and related accompanying phenomena, such as fear, weakness, limitation, loneliness, helplessness, etc. The aim of the review article is to check and discuss the contribution of specific works by the individual authors, included in the monograph, representing various academic centers in Poland and Europe, and to explain and illustrate the mechanisms of language adaptation to the rapidly changing conditions of extralingual reality in the conditions of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
