Summary/Abstract: This article considers how insights from psychology and educational researchcan contribute to enhancing teacher training. Developments in early childhood pedagogyencourage changes in the way future educators are trained. This article discusses conceptsof education in pedagogical studies and the competences that are required of the futureteacher. Individualization of the teaching process requires curriculum modifications, in-novative ideas, creating proprietary curriculum. The article is a search/or review basedon the teacher training literature for answers on how to train future teachers to be flexible,reflective, decisive and innovative. How can teachers be supported in a way so that teach-ers can help themselves to be teachers?
