Summary/Abstract: The article defines the basic concepts of child speech development. The analysisof its various stages is combined with ways of stimulation through the actions of parents,caregivers and then teachers of preschool and early school education. The child’s masteryof the elements of language determines his communicative competence and, therefore,the effectiveness of communication in a manner appropriate to the existing conditionsor a specific situation. Thus, an inseparable element of the child’s acquisition of languagecompetence is not passive listening and repetition of heard words or phrases, but alsoskillful inclusion of the child in the creation of his own language, building a vocabularyby correcting and reinforcing statements. The article also points out the need to stimulatethe child’s need to speak, especially in the early stages of education. The way and qualityof information transmission, verbal contact with the child from the prenatal period is ofvital importance for his development, which can give tangible results later and greatlyfacilitate the acquisition of communication skills and language competence.
