About musical dictation and the analytical-structural approach to it

Summary/Abstract: This article discusses musical dictation as a core activity in professional music-auditory training. The research aims to analyze the components of musical hearing, necessary for conducting the activity in the conditions of the 20th and 21st centuries music. The analytical-structural approach is presented, which supports the development of musical memory and the improvement of musical thinking. An excerpt from a work by the composer Ivan Spassov is proposed as constructive musical material for this approach. The selection is based on the stylistics of the musical language in the considered time period.
