Summary/Abstract: With the text examined below, a brief historical review is made in the development of the archive from antiquity, before the clear distinction between library and archive, to its gradual establishment as an independent institution, with a function and meaning known to us to this day. With the historical examples described, the political and power significance of the archival records emphasizing its etymology is emphasized. The report is an addition to the article "ARCHIVE. METHODOLOGY, TERMS AND CONCEPTS [….]", in which the factual essence of the archive, the system of concepts that describe it, the resource that composes it, the types of archive collections, as well as its organizational methodology are analyzed. The mentioned article gives a factual context of the archive SPRING SCIENTIFIC READINGS 299 20 as established in various postmodernist creative practices, an artistic medium, or 23 as Mariana Kamburova mentions in her book, archives "create the collective memory of society, guide us through the 'before' and the 'now', and transform reality from banal into artistic precisely through accumulation and generalization". [Kamburova, 2022, p. 105]
