Summary/Abstract: Street vagrancy occurs in the circumstances of a society that has high cultural values, but the institutional ways to access them are unproductive. The individual perceives this situation as an internalized conflict: to use legal institutional means or to give in to the pressure to resort to illicit ways to achieve success. Most of the time the tramp is frustrated and can't cope with this pressure and eventually gives up. Here are used certain specific escape mechanisms: giving up, silence, resignation.
