Summary/Abstract: The present article presents the archaeozoological analysis of the osteological remains of animal origin taken from an archaeological feature, the pit house identified during the preventive research carried out in 2005 in the Eneolithic settlement of Alba Iulia - Lumea Nouă. The standard methodology was used to identify the species of domestic and wild animals of the analysed faunal assemblage. The results of the research showed that domestic cattle represented the main resource of animal protein, followed by sheep, goats and pigs. Wild mammal species such as deer, roe deer, wild boar and aurochs are present in the sample, but in small proportions. Therefore, based on the analysis, animal husbandry was the main method of exploiting animals for their primary (meat) and secondary (milk, wool) resources, hunting having a secondary role for the communities of the Foeni cultural group in the Alba Iulia - Lumea Nouă site.
