Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author presents a model of the functioning of Polish-speaking pastoral ministryin the Diocese of Brooklyn. This part of the NewYork metropolitan area is currently the most pop-ulated by Poles. The article presents the originsof emigration from Poland to the United Statesand its subsequent stages. The origins of pasto-ral ministry provided in the Polish language inthe area and its subsequent rapid development arealso presented, as evidenced by the establishmentof many ethnic parishes at the turn of the 20thcentury, which were funded by Polish emigrantsthemselves. The metamorphosis of this pastoralministry from pre-existing ethnic parishes to mul-ticultural parishes, where the liturgy is celebratedin several different languages, is also shown. Thistransformation is shown in the context of socialand migratory changes. The article also showsthat the care for Polish migrants in the Dioceseof Brooklyn, despite the changes taking place, has always been and continues to be carried outaccording to the documents and indications of theUniversal Church.
