Summary/Abstract: In recent years, as a result of civilization changes and external circumstanc-es, Polish students’ expectations towards teachers and schools have also changed.A survey conducted among 147 secondary school students of Warmia and Mazury wasintended to determine these expectations. The aim of the study was to obtain answersto questions about the level of interest in history and the teaching resources andmethods used by teachers. In addition, the survey helped to determine the diffi cultiesthat students face while learning history, as well as to learn about their expectationsregarding the selection of content and practices used during lessons. The analysis ofthe survey results was used to determine the challenges which history teachers haveto face up to. These included: skillful use of technology and communication toolsin the teaching-learning process, eff ective student motivation, shaping soft skills,orienting students to lifelong learning, taking into account the fi ndings of neurodi-dactics and verifying the role of the teacher and his relationship with the student.
