Summary/Abstract: The Society of Philomaths was established on October 13, 1817 by six students of the University of Vilnius. The main goal of the association was self-education and self-improvement. Over time, the Philomaths expanded their activities, creating dependent associations. The youth did not focus just on their studies. They participated in the cultural life of Vilnius, make friends with prominent figures of the local community, but also created an internal social life in the field of youth associations. The article aims to present the events in which Philomaths participated, describe their entertainment and also try to determine how social life defined the character of the youth organization.
