Summary/Abstract: The Romanian school in the first years after the end of the First World War was marked by attempts to reform the educational system in the complex conditions of the manifestations of the consequences one of the largest conflagration in the history of mankind, some of the devastating episodes of which took place in the Old Kingdom, and the establishment of Greater Romania, a political structure that united successor states of Russia and the two parts of the late Austria-Hungary, Cisleithania and Transleithania, with the multiple social, economic, cultural and educational differences that separated them. The management of the educational process was difficult, considering the existing conditions, and the political instability created great difficulties for the relevant ministry in terms of finding solutions, which would bring the Romanian school back on a normal development path. The interest for the problems of education manifested itself rigorously in the programs of the political parties, but also in the activity of the governments from the interwar period. In turn, civil society reacted very promptly to the issue of Romanian education. Political misunderstandings regarding the necessary reforms in the field of education have fully contributed to the creation of a state of uncertainty regarding the functioning of schools. Between 1918 and 1920, no less than 9 ministers headed the ministry. This instability has led to delays in the reform process and the unification of the education system.
