Summary/Abstract: Bukovina is an ethnogeographical and historical region. The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy pursued a policy of settling new colonists; thus, Bukovina began to receive settlers from all over the monarchy, including Poland, resulting in the formation of a multiethnic and multi-confessional community. This article is devoted to the Polish language in Bukovina: the spoken Polish language of the older generation of residents (aged 60 and over) in both parts of this historical land. The collected material and description testify to the Polish culture abroad and to the language as a cultural heritage. This culture was subject to various historical processes – both characteristic of this part of Europe and universal and global. Bukovina was one of many directions of migration of Poles. Here, some of them began a new life many years ago, creating a special culture, which is now being developed by their descendants, who use the Bukovinian language developed in the course of public life. This study presents a fragment of their world and we hope it will help preserve this legacy for future generations.
