Summary/Abstract: In traditional culture, one of the ceremonial items used is straw. In everyday life and on farms, straw has a utilitarian purpose, but in birthing ritual practice it receives a symbolic function as a marker of the boundary between the earthly and the afterlife worlds in the mythological space; a meditative function of the connection between two different zones of the mythical space; a function that neutralizes the detrimental impact on people from the afterlife.
