Summary/Abstract: In recent decades, cognitive development has been the subject of great interest by specialists in various fields of psychology, and especially the prevention of potential difficulties in this area of development. A common practice is the use of screening methods that provide early diagnosis and sufficient time for intervention. However, it is important that each instrument meets the necessary criteria. For this purpose, psychometric analyses are applied. The present work presents an analysis of the psychometric characteristics of a new web-based battery for measuring the cognitive development of 5-year-old children. The instrument has been invented by Assist. Prof. Kristina Gotseva-Balgaranova, Assoc. Prof. Milena Mutafchieva and colleagues from the Laboratory of Child Development of the NBU. The battery was tested with 273 children with an average age of 5 years and 7 months from various state kindergartens, predominantly from the city of Sofia. The test has 6 theoretical subscales – attention, working memory, inhibition, analogical reasoning, categorization and mathematical skills. The results of the conducted psychometric analyses show that the items are divided into two main factors - executive functions and understanding of relations. The two empirical scales have a satisfactory level of reliability (scale 1. Executive functions (α=0.771) and scale 2. Understanding of relations(α=0.711)). Overall, the instrument demonstrated good reliability (α=0.757). As a result of the conducted research, norms for the implementation of the considered instrument have been formed. They are presented using standard deviations and sample means.
