Summary/Abstract: In recent months, the legal landscape in Romania has undergone significant changes directly impacting the mission of the museums and public collections in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. Among these changes are Law 296/2023 and amendments to Law 311/2003 on Museums and Public Collections. This article examines the specific threats posed by these changes to Romanian museums and their system for safeguarding national cultural heritage.
