Summary/Abstract: This study opens a series dedicated to the analysis of one of the most important aspects of the history of the 13th century in Transylvania: the emergence and development of local elite and visible forms of representation of their status in medieval society. First will be analyzed the stage of the most important European historiography and methodologies, then Transylvanian military elite based on archaeological information and documentation and finally the role of these elites in the feudal relations in the southern Transylvanian as a particular aspect of the medieval elites history in the Hungarian Kingdom
