Summary/Abstract: The aquifer complex in the "Kenadsa-Geul-El Aouda" region is a system, mainly consisting of Westphalian sandstone, characterized by a permeability K: 10-5m/s and a transmissivity T: 10-6m/s ). This complex corresponds to the productive bed which contains coal seams. It is locally of intense fracturing. The roof of this aquifer is at shallow depths and has numerous resurgences. These waters are only used for agricultural purposes. The piezometry suggests a flow from East to West, with disturbances due to pumping. They are of poor quality, too charged, and not drinkable. Hydrochemistry attests that the pH of the waters is more or less homogeneous, and that it varies from 7.2 and 7.87. Temperatures slightly vary from 24.5°C to 24.7°C. The conductivity is contrasted from 4470μS/cm at point to 18030μS/cm. The Ca2+ is between 224.4 and 1806.2 mg/l. Mg2+ varies from 122.16 to 548.28mg/l. The alkalines (Na+, K+) indicate contents of 3735.99 mg/l to 971.35 mg/l. Chlorides Cl-record a minimum and maximum value of 969.15 mg/l and 5822 mg/l. Sulphates (SO42-) are 232 mg/l and 61 mg/l. Bicarbonates (HCO3-) 58.865 mg/l vary from. 36.6mg/l to 91.5mg/l. Nitrates mostly have levels ranging from 418 to 1533 mg/l. The quality of these waters is due to the combination of the paleogeography of the context of the formation of coal, the vulnerability of the aquifer, the dissolution of the heaps, excessive use of fertilizers and urban discharges.
