Summary/Abstract: In recent decades, the field of psychology has seen an increased interest in the study of psychological well-being. A variety of research in different subject areas is looking at the factors influencing levels of psychological well-being. The report aims to theoretically reveal the relationship between psychological well-being and the experience factor in parenting. Ryff‘s model, labeled psychological well-being, will be presented. The model contains six components that characterize optimal functioning and well-being: purpose in life, autonomy, personal growth, environmental mastery, positive relationships, and self-acceptance. Based on the six-dimensional model, Ryff proposes a scale for assessing psychological well-being, subject to several different revisions over time. The results of the studies with the Eudaemonic Psychological Well-Being Scale can be organized into six thematic areas: development and aging; personal determinants; family experiences; work and other life commitments; health and biological research and clinical trials. The report will focus on the impact of different family roles with emphasis on parenting experiences, family transition and unexpected events on mental well-being. Plenty of research in the area of family experiences has focused on the effects of parenthood versus childlessness or family structure such as number of children on psychological well-being. The report will examine the content factor of the parent-child relationship, with aspects of relationship quality and the level of demands placed by the child on the parent. Based on the mentioned results, it can be assumed that the content of the parent-child relationship is the main mechanism through which parenting can directly influence the levels of psychological well-being.
