Analysis of the Styles of Consumption among the Polish Upper Class: the Example of the TV Show Rezydencja

Summary/Abstract: The paper is based on a doctoral dissertation on consumption styles of the upper class in Poland. Using theoretical concepts of Thorstein Veblen and Pierre Bourdieu, it attempts to explore the image of Polish upper class in the media, based on example of the Polish TV series Rezydencja. The paper suggests that Veblen’s concept of conspicuous consumption should be used as the key factor in analyzing the media image of the Polish upper class, and (by extension) the media image of other social classes in Poland.
