Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the present study is to empirically test the potential influence of the emotional intelligence of researchers in Turkish universities on their job satisfaction. The sample included 82 individuals aged 20 to over 55, of which 43.7% of the sample were men and 56.3% were women. Regarding the educational level, 44% of the surveyed persons have a doctorate, 45% have a master’s degree and 11% have a bachelor’s degree. The study was conducted with the Genos Questionnaire (Palmer et al., 2009) measuring emotionally intelligent workplace behavior and the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (Spector, 1985). The results of the study reveal a moderate positive correlation between the emotionally intelligent behavior of employees and overall job satisfaction (r = 0.463; p = 0.000), as well as with individual components of satisfaction: communication in the organization, relationship with colleagues, relationship with management, rewards, and the work itself. The role of emotional intelligence as a predictor of job satisfaction was also proven (R² = 0.215; p = 0.000; β = 0.463).
