Summary/Abstract: This article refers to ethnographic research on the mobility of inhabitants of a small town andattempts to reflect on circularity and translation of the research process, which is not so muchopposed to linearly conducted research but shows the potential of these procedures. They areparticularly suitable for projects that have a longer time horizon and in which, in line with groundedtheory, new dimensions of reality or new aspects of reality may emerge, which until now havebeen treated marginally or have remained outside the field of perception. The main conclusion tobe drawn from seeing and practising the circularity and translation approach is that it should beseen as complementary and enriching to research conducted according to a pre-established planand timetable.
