Summary/Abstract: The memories of contemporaries, collaborators and friends, corroborated with archival documents allow us to authentically approach a different time. Thus, we can better acquaint ourselves with the people who through their great deeds defined the history of the Romanian people. Such is in this instance, in which Dan Alecu, a lawyer from Constanţa and secretary of the local National Peasants’ Party branch, recalls memories of Vasile Lepădatu, teacher and president of the aforementioned party branch. Few things are known about the politician and even fewer about Vasile Lepădatu as a man. Therefore this source is exceptionally important. From the remembrance of Dan Alecu we learn about his friends’ family, about the capitain teacher Vasile Lepădatu and his conduct towards peasant soldiers, about his association with Ion Mihalache. Dan Alecu sheds light on the context in which the National Peasants’ Party and National Peasants’ Party of Dobrogea came to be, highlighting especially the uprising of 1907 and particularly analyzing the local national-peasantry branch. Furthermore, we learn precious details about Vasile Lepădatu as a man whom Dan Alecu knew well, for numerous years, as party „chief” – as collaborator and thus close friend. There is no doubt that the pages written by Dan Alecu bear a subjective mark, especially when he enumerates and describes Vasile Lepădatu’s qualities. But even so, he recalls much about the meetings he participated in and about essential figures to the recount of our interbelic history, whom he met or of whom he was told.
