Summary/Abstract: A learning organization is the main pillar of knowledge management application. The speed of learning becomes an incredible source of competetive advantage. Learning Organization is an organization skilled at creating, acquiring and transfering knowledge, and at modifying its behavior to reflex new knowledge and insights. Learnig Organizations are skilled at five main activities: systematic problem solving, experimentation with new approaches, learning from their own experience and past history, learning from the experiences and best practises of others, and transfering knowlwedge quickly and efficiently throughout the organizatuion. This article shows principles of a new way of management in Learning Organizations and show application of the concept of a learning organization in small and medium enterprises in Slovakia. Also presents how this concept influences effectiveness of companies. For our research it was very important to analyze first part of questionnaire, which was oriented on employees. This part is aimed on the ability of individual to learn and develop.
