Summary/Abstract: In the technical-economic context of the contemporary economy only quantitative assessments can not define the complexity and the level of the organization and society’s development. Qualitative approaches outline a more real horizon, becoming necessary although they have a high degree of subjectivism and are often used to justify and not to direct. Achieving efficiency, effectiveness and excellence in business is nowadays a prerequisite for sustainable development. But how does management specifically contribute to the increase of economic effectiveness and efficiency of the organization? How do we lead? The answer to the question "how do we lead?” is given mainly by the used managerial instruments as well as by its operational methodologies or by methodologies of design / redesign and maintenance of the operation management system and its components.
