Summary/Abstract: The MEDUCA portal is the outcome of activities unfolded within the project of the portal “Advanced research for creating a pilot educational system within the virtual space in order to simulate scenarios regarding natural disasters and citizens’ and institutions’ way of action in crises situations” launched in 2007. The goal was to provide a platform that integrates topic –oriented educational content and structured knowledge, targeted for users with a wide array of backgrounds, coming from different social strata. The portal development envisaged intense research activities both within the IT and sociology as well as education, aiming at identifying unsurpassed solutions. The portal thus elaborated is based on the DRUPAL technology, being capable of hosting quite an inexhaustible number of specific courses for a massive group of target-users.
