Summary/Abstract: Mediavalism as a subcategory of cultural ancientry is present in Polish 20th-century historical novel, in which it offers a way to perceive the past. Turning back to Middle Ages, as seen on the example of two novels by Władysław Jan Grabski, is an indispensable stage in the national history. The two novels are an attempt to fill gap in he national memory and in the history of literature.
