Summary/Abstract: Moje wspomnienia o życiu towarzyskim w Warszawie (My Memories of Social Life in Warsaw) by Paulina Wilkońska is not only a documentary of the époque. It portrays the unique image of the city which accepted the author of the book. There, Warsaw is not just an administrative area, but an intellectual and emotional category as well, which is connected with the community spirit and self-identification. Wilkońska characterizes Warsaw society as a united, almost univocal community. The view of Warsaw is, in fact, getting into it; it author arrives from the west of Poland (Wielkopolska), gets familiar with the Warsaw world, is absorbed by it, is enlightened visiting various drawing rooms of the capital, by which she learns about Warsaw, and which, towards the end of the book, becomes one of the lost Polish worlds.
