Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the Bulgarian academic book publishing from 1869 to the present day. It focuses on the Periodical Magazine of the Bulgarian Literary Society, first printed in 1870 in Braila and published today as the Journal of BAS. Publishing is inextricably linked with the history of the Bulgarian Literary Society and later with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, engaging a key percentage of the financial means and the most essential efforts of the society's leaders. BAS has a publishing house that publishes scientific studies, monographs, textbooks, scientific journals, and other scientific works. These are of great importance for the dissemination of scientific knowledge and for the promotion of academic activity in Bulgaria and abroad. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences cooperates with other national and international publishing houses for the publication of scientific research. The printing of scientific publications by the BAS ensures a high standard of quality and contributes to the prestige of Bulgarian science on a global scale.
