Summary/Abstract: EU quality schemes help consumers worldwide identify high-quality products and safeguard the agricultural heritage of Europe. They also provide strong legal protection against the imitation of well-known EU goods like Φέτα/Feta cheese and the newly registered PDO products from Bulgaria: Българско бяло саламурено сирене / Bulgarsko byalo salamureno sirene and Българско кисело мляко / Bulgarsko kiselo mlуako, etc. In general, inside the territory of the European Union, over 3,300 products are covered by quality schemes, including cheeses and other dairy products, meat, fruits and vegetables, wines, spirits, and more. EU logos have been created in order to promote these products. These symbols are displayed on product packaging, which aids in recognizing these goods when they are sold. They boost EU products’ worldwide credibility by ensuring that they are genuine and not a copy or counterfeit. This study aims to provide a comparative analysis of geographical indication (GIs) and traditional speciality guaranteed (TSGs) products in Southern European countries, Northern European countries, Eastern, and Western European countries. It is exploratory in nature and is based on secondary data retrieved from official EU documents and registers.
