Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this text is to present a model for mentalization-based treatment with families, adolescents, and children while simultaneously drawing parallels and comparisons with systemic thinking and systemic practice. The question is raised about the points of convergence between the two approaches and whether they fundamentally differ or rather share common guiding principles. It is proposed that incorporating mentalization theory and mentalization-based interventions in systemic therapy may enhance its effectiveness by increasing the capacity for mentalizing of the family and the receptivity of family members both to the thoughts and feelings of others and to their own.
