From the Theoretical to the Practical: Applying Linear Functions in Real Life

Summary/Abstract: The article presents practical-application tasks that help develop students’ mathematical literacy and engage them in research activities. To solve such tasks, students must formulate the real problem in the form of a mathematical task, create a mathematical model of the problem and interpret the obtained mathematical results. When working with the corresponding created mathematical model, the GeoGebra application can be used. The presented tasks allow for the enrichment of the didactic materials used in the study of the linear function, as well as help introduce a practically oriented component into mathematics classes
