Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the organisation of a seminar at the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University of Eszterházy, which is part of the curriculum of the course for special ed¬ucation teachers, the constructivist approach to career socialisation, its role and its practical application. The seminar Sociology of Special Needs Education – Social Support Systems is taught at the beginning of the course and is compulsory for all special needs education students as a basic course. The constructivist approach is particularly effective for the course’s outcome because a conceptual shift is required for professionalization for most students. The seminar is designed with a teaching and learning concept capable of constructing knowledge, and differentiating and expand¬ing students’ conceptions of careers. It thus can be a catalyst for the development of the professional socialisation process. To illustrate this idea, the paper reviews the specific scaffolding role of the practices, procedures and exercises used during the course: the multidisciplinary environment created by the joint work of the two instruc¬tors, the discursive nature of the jointly led lessons, the initiatory role of the institu¬tional visits, the reflective journals, the metaphor research exploring interpretations of disability, and its processing by students in group work.
