Summary/Abstract: This article is a collection, typology and analysis of daily Kabyle greetings during the 24hours. By virtue of their function, these formulas fall into the broad category of polite formulascorresponding in Tamazight to ‘tinfaliyin leḥdaqa/lekyasa’, which we call ‘tihdurrin n lmeɛna’. Theseare expressions that Kabyle speakers exchange day and night as soon as they meet or leave someoneor a group of people, at different times of the day and night, in different meeting contexts. In general, greetings are polylexical, prefabricated, more or less fixed or frozen ‘tinfaliyin tukrifin/tusbikin’ andsemantically compositional. Their meaning is relative to a specific context of use, which is why theyfall into the category of pragmatic phraseologisms.
