Summary/Abstract: The preservation and research of the stylistic characteristics of the artists is may be the most direct way to get closers to the ‚secrets‘ of the technological creation in the realization of the individual artistic vision . In 1944 the heirs of Nikola Petrov (1881-1916) donated his pallet with oil paint to the gallery named after him in his home town of Vidin . During the short period of creative activities the artist used only this small pallet for his outdoor and studio paintings . Now, thanks to it, we can touch and feel the actual colors of his works, created during the last years of his life . The method of arranging and mixing the colors, the dominance of the famous for his works ochre color introduce a new element in our understanding of the manner of work of the most famous Bulgarian master of landscapes from the beginning of the 20th c . The analytical research of the paints left on his pallet provides additional information about their composition and quality and this gives us additional ideas about the stylistic characteristics and the state of his works .
