Summary/Abstract: The article examines issues related to the classification of personal and geographical names in Constantine of Preslav’s Didactic Gospel, which have previously been overlooked, as this category has rarely been a distinct research subject. The study clarifies the scope of proper names in the analysis of old texts, distinguishing not only homonymic spellings of anthroponyms and toponyms but also similar names referring to different individuals. It demonstrates the necessity of including this category in diachronic dictionaries, particularly with regard to compound anthroponyms. It highlights the importance of recognizing cases where common nouns or adjectives function as independent bynames. Lists of all anthroponyms and toponyms in the Didactic Gospel are presented. The peculiarities of the phonetic and morphological adaptation of the names are analyzed, confirming the ancient origin of the Old Bulgarian text.
