Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows impact specific economic sectors in Serbia from the standpoint of environmental protection, in addition to economic growth. Foreign direct investments (FDI) are a key factor for economic growth and sustainable development, but they can have negative consequences for the environment. The study analyses FDI inflows in Serbia, focusing on their environmental impact, especially in light of global crises such as theCOVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The applied methods in this research include deduction and induction, synthesis, specialization, generalization, as well as the case study method. The findings reveal that FDI in industries with significant environmental burdens is increasing, while investments in environmental protection are declining, highlighting the need for an urgent regulatory response. The research suggests the necessity for a more detailed analysis of FDI in sectors such as agriculture, energy, and processing, where environmental and economic impacts are particularly significant. Future studies should focus on the development of environmental policies that balance investment attraction with sustainability
