THE MAPPING OF POTENTIAL FORMS OF TOURISM IN THE MALESEVO REGION, FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SUSTAINABLE TOURIST DESTINATION

Summary/Abstract: The creation of a recognizable and sustainable tourist destination is the goal that the region of the Municipality of Berovo and Maleshevo should strive for. This involves focusing on its potentials to create a suitable tourism offer that will satisfy the desires of all potential tourists, including the most selective ones. In order to perceive the prospects for the development of specific forms of tourism, it is necessary to be motivated and dedicated to developing action plans that will result in goals and activities to be undertaken for the approval of various tourism forms. It should be taken into account that the region of Berovo and Maleshevo has great potential and capacity for tourism development, and local initiatives, events, and manifestations should become recognizable at the local, national, and international levels, with the Municipality of Berovo being a desirable and recognizable sustainable tourist destination. If the entire region is considered as a single tourist entity or route, tourists would be able to experience the full range of tourist offerings and have the opportunity to choose which type of tourism they would like to participate in. However, there needs to be an enhanced promotion of the location and the region as a whole, as good promotion is a tool for attracting tourists, and the driving factor for this tool is a skilled workforce that will professionally carry out the tasks. The goal of sustainable tourism is to establish long-term development, offering current benefits without limiting or damaging future advantages for the region. Through the implementation of specific forms of tourism in the Berovo and Malesevo region, establishing their sustainable development in tourism will contribute to changes in building awareness of ecology, behaviour, treatment, cultural and historical values, and their preservation, as well as the economy, both on an individual and societal level. Sustainable tourism development would lead to the growth of the entire region, incorporating and fully aligning with the needs of the local population, society, and the demands of tourists.
