Summary/Abstract: In the Orthodox Christian calendar, there is a special category represented by the Holy Unmercenaries or those with medical knowledge and talent who brought healing to the people without charging them any specific amount or other goods. Among these saints were: martyrs, apostles, saints, hierarchs as well as pious women, myrrh-bearing women, confessors of Christ.The study also focuses on how the healing saints, living in past times, but also in more recent, contemporary times, are depicted in iconography. Among them we note: the Holy Martyrs Cosmas and Damian, the Holy Martyrs Cyrus and John, the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon and the Holy Martyr Hermolaus, the Holy Venerable Sampson and the Holy Martyr Diomid, the Holy Martyrs Mochius, Photius and Anicetus, the Holy Martyrs Epictetus and Astion, the Holy Martyrs Thalaleus and Tryphon, the Holy Hierarchs Parthenios of Lampsakos, Nectarios of Pentapolis and Luke of Crimea, Saint John the Russian and the holy New Martyr Ephraim.
