Summary/Abstract: Since the establishing of Nemanjić dynasty, and especially the autocephalous Serbian archbishopric Medieval Serbia is in need for educated people. Every priest was considered and teacher, also. His teaching was spreading the christian virtue through preaching. Only exceptional individuals were learning to write and read, either in church, or in private secular teacher. Any further improvement in any other skill was through work. Orthodox church in medieval Serbia haven’t had monopoly on education. Nevertheless, monasteries were important part of higher education, especially in medicine. For purposes the kings court was of much importance. The heredes of most powerful and influential families learnt there about economics and low in order to efficiently lead their fiefs, scattered throughout the land.
